Barrel Race Time Only Night's @ Mt Hood Center Information :  All participants, including youth, must have made their reservation and payment on the Mt Hood Center website. There will not be any drop-in participants allowed. Every participant needs to have a signed waiver before arriving. If you have not done so within the past year please Click Here to fill out our waiver. When you arrive please park up front in the main parking area and enter the barn through the open bay door. A guardian is allowed with their participant, but please leave all spectators at home. Please arrive with enough time to tack up and be in the arena on time. Your time starts on the hour that you signed up for and ends at the top of the following hour. If you arrive late you forfeit time. We have a limit of 10 riders at a time so participants will be asked to exit promptly when their time has ended. You may bring your own leadlines. There will be a quick rake after every 10 runs. Alina Stasik, from the famed, Cavalia Horse Show, is premiering her Liberty and Horse Agility six-week clinic series. The goal of the series is to: - Have proper communication at liberty while going through an obstacle course. - Be able to keep your horse's focus and trust while under pressure or in a new environment. - Develop a true connection with your horse to the point where you no longer rely on aids such as halters and lead ropes. ________________________________________________ Two groups, two hours each group, one day a week (every Thursday) for six weeks. 8 to 10 people per group 1st group: 4:00pm - 6:00pm 2nd group: 6:00pm - 8:00pm $800 per person - must be paid in full before classes begin Requirements: Each Participant provides their own horse, will need comfortable shoes, and 30-40 inch crop _________________________________________________ We will hold a horse agility competition at the end of the six week course with both groups. The first place and second place winners will receive a prize. Week One (basics) •Liberty demonstration  •Run through of program and syllabus  •What is liberty? Proper communication and developing to use •Body control and setting boundaries  Week Two (keeping interest)  •Keeping interest and not relying on aids •Giving more freedom •Body control •Basics of in hand liberty  Week Three (call back)  •In hand liberty •Understanding herd mentality •Building trust •Teaching a callback Week Four (adding obstacles)  •Combining in hand liberty and the callback •Adding obstacles •Desensitizing and keeping focus  •Control through cues and communication Week five (horse agility)  •Review of clinic •Run through of course •Confronting any difficulties or setbacks •Using liberty on and off an agility course  Week Six (competition) Both groups from six weeks series combined. Starting with rules and regulations of event. We will allow time for everyone to go through the course once and talk about any setbacks or problems they experience. Each person will go through the course a second time with this one counting for the competition. First and second place (highest points) contestant will be presented with a prize. The course will consist of liberty maneuvers leading into obstacles without halter and lead rope. Contestants will be able to have a dressage crop used as an extension of arm. If a lead rope is needed it must be held loose without pulling on it. The course will consist of eight or more obstacles. The course is timed but is also judged on consistency and how the horse and owner perform through each obstacle.    Interested?
